Kwara Assembly Asks Gov Ahmed To Institute Hall Of Fame Committee

The Kwara State House of Assembly has called on Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to set up a hall of fame standing committee that would examine meaningful contributions of Kwarans who should be conferred with honours. This was part of the resolutions arising from a matter of general public importance raised by the leader of the House, Hon. Hassan Oyeleke, on the need to restore universal core value system of honesty, integrity, hard work, knowledge and fear of God as a way of addressing moral bankruptcy permeating the Nigerian society. Reading the resolutions of the House, the deputy Speaker, Elder Matthew Okedare, said recognition of good exemplary conduct and excellent performance, were key towards socio-economic and political emancipation of any given society. The House in its resolution said the proposed committee should be made up of men and women of high integrity, honour, achievement, and of impeccable character to ensure the realisation of the intended purpose, Oyeleke had while raising the matter of general public importance noted with displeasure that the lust for material wealth by Nigerians had eroded the nation's core value system of integrity, honesty, sacrifice, knowledge, hardwork and fear of God. The committee on hall of fame, according to him, if established, would ensure official recognition for integrity and promote high moral values in the state.
